Robert A. Gillespie, Ph.D., A.B.M.P.P.



Dr. Gillespie was born and grew up in New York City. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University. After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Gillespie completed a residency in clinical assessment and eventually became the Director of Evaluation at the Community Mental Health Center in Springfield Massachusetts. He then became the Director of Psychology at Harbor View Psychiatric Hospital in Miami and the chief psychologist for the Upper Midwest Rehabilitation Institute at St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center, the Level I trauma hospital for St. Paul, Minnesota. Subsequently, he became the Director of Neuropsychology and the Clinical Director of Brain Injury Services at Bethesda Lutheran Rehabilitation Hospital in St. Paul, where he established the hospitalís neuropsychology service and developed the Neurobehavioral Brain Injury Program for treatment of severe brain injury.

After being in private practice providing neuropsychological assessment and treatment in the Midwest and California for several years, he returned to academia, becoming an Assistant Clinical Professor at Widener Universityís Graduate Institute and developing the Widener University Neuropsychology Assessment Center for the training of doctoral students in neuropsychological assessment.

Dr. Gillespie left Widener in 2007 to join the staff of St. Johnís Mercy Head Injury Resource Center in Saint Louis, Missouri in order to develop a comprehensive brain injury treatment program. While in Saint Louis, he also developed the Brain Injury Foundation of St. Louis and Neuroregenesis, PC, a private company providing program development, education, and treatment for individuals with brain injuries and their families.
